PASTORE HALL, URI
Four Teaching Labs
EMERGENCY PROJECT
In March of 2004, staff discovered a massive steam leak that (within
one week) generated extensive mold growth on old wood cabinetry.
Remediation attempts failed, and the classrooms were required to
be completely renovated. The architects donned protective gear to
inventory existing conditions. Lamborghini/ Feibelman Ltd. upgraded
the layouts to add ADA stations, designed the renovations and led
the team of engineers, URI reps and three contractors in fast-tracking
the project through the state purchasing process and two construction
phases. Two labs were scheduled and completed as summer renovations,
and the remaining two labs were renovated over December break.
RESEARCH LAB
An outdated layout with old systems prevented the professor from
conducting his research. Lamborghini/ Feibelman Ltd. developed a
design to suit the professor's research requirements by integrating
systems, casework, equipment and finishes into an efficient new
layout. Fume hoods were replaced and, to reduce requirements for
make-up air, a dynamic barrier fume hood was specified.
